Revolution: New California State

Open California Protest | May 1st Sacramento, Ca

A group of over one thousand Californias, young and old, rally together to protest Gov. Gavin Newsom's extended stay-at-home order, Friday, May 1st, 2020.

The protesters gathered in front of the west steps of the capitol building with signs, American flags, and Trump flags chanting "Freedom", "USA", "Open Up", and more, as officers pushed them toward the street.

There were also many protesting from a safe distance in their cars decorated with American and Trump flags. Here is a video I made using my footage and photos.

Valerie is one of two photographers for New California. She made this after Friday's May 1, 2020 rally at the state capital in Sacramento, CA. All pics and video are her work. She spent the hours shooting the footage knowing that her mother had been arrested by the Cal Highway Patrol for protesting! She did not know her mother Michelle was being held in the basement of the capital in handcuffs for 7 hours.
